Compress & Escape
Remove unnecessary whitespace and compare sizes, escape strings for languages, and encode Unicode / Base64
JSON minify, escaping and encoding explained
Minify mode removes spaces, line breaks and indentation without changing meaning, then shows the byte difference between the source and the result. It is useful for API responses and embedded configuration that must travel or be stored in a smaller form. Invalid JSON is reported with the error location first.
Escape mode works on string literals and supports JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, Go and PHP targets in both directions. It is commonly used to embed a JSON document inside a source-code string without breaking quotes and backslashes.
Codec mode offers Unicode escaping, Unicode restoring, plus Base64 encoding and decoding for multilingual text, emoji or channels that only accept ASCII characters. All operations are local and nothing is sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
- Can minified JSON still be used directly?
- Yes. Minification only removes whitespace and keeps keys, array order and data types unchanged, so any standard JSON parser can read the result.
- How is escaping different from Base64 encoding?
- Escaping turns text into a string literal for a target language and stays readable. Base64 converts any text into an ASCII character set that is less readable but passes safely through text-only channels.
- Why does Base64 decoding fail?
- Typical causes are characters outside the Base64 set, an incomplete length, or input that is not Base64 at all. Confirm the input comes from an encoded result and remove extra descriptions.
